Are you sure you wanna put carpet around a toilet? Sounds like a mess to me. What if the toilet leaks..or you or somebody misses? Then your bathroom will smell like dried urine or youll just have a wet toilet water floor. You could cut off a section of where the carpet would be and try installing some of those wood planks or some lineoleum around the toilet.

Don't put carpet next to your toilet. It's a stinky mistake. But if you must, get a professional carpet layer. Nothing looks worse than badly laid carpet.
is not your job
Sarah, just buy some nice rugs so you can clean them occasionally. If you do not like the floor-buy some nice and easy to install vinyl squares from the Home Depot. They are pretty cheap, and much simpler to install then a one piece vinyl. And they really do look nice.Carpet that gets fecal / urine spills on it is bacterialized like a crummy old pair of sneakers. Any restoration company will tear it out completely in the event your main sewer has an overflow--and all do eventually.
