Wallpaper Border Removal?
Question:Aggh. The previous owners of our home used border-not only 1 layer, but 2!
I have removed the top layer completely and am down to the base. It is stuck like, well, glue.
What can I do that is kind of a home remedy? Hot water is not taking it off, but I am able to pull teeny tiny pieces off and revealing the backing paper. It'll take a month of removal this way!
Answers:
Super Hot water and Dish Detergent. Spray on and let sit for 10 mins. Be patient. Come back and peel slowly.
Try a home made spray of hot water, soap and lemon juice. This combo should eat at the glue. Spray on a few feet at a time, let it set a few minutes then see what happens.
Make sure to use a "paper tiger" or other scoring tool. Otherwise, whatever you use to soak the paper won't work effectively. I too have removed multiple layers of very glued on paper and borders. I used the paper tiger and very hot water or a product called "DIF". Keep a plastic scraper handy too to help in the removal of the paper (plastic won't damage your wall like a metal one could).
Whatever you use, make sure to saturate the paper for easier removal!
Good Luck!
An equal amount of water and liguid fabric softener in a spray bottle. Spray it on the wallpaper border and then wait. Using a plastic stripping scrapper, it should come right off. I almost forgot to mention to get a wallpaper scorer. This will put light scores in the border so the fabric softener/water combination will saturate the glue.
