What's the best way to clean a pressure treated deck?
Question:I want to power wash it, but I have heard of many different kinds of cleaner to use. From Bleach to Laundry Detergent to buying something from Home Depot. Let me know if you have cleaned your dirty deck and the grest results you have had with what type of cleaning agent. Thanks.

I didn't use any type of cleaners because I was afraid I would do something to harm the surrounding environment. I did use a pressure washer, the problem is be aware of the type of tips to use. Many folks use a 0 degree tip, and destroy the wood. Use the 25 - 35 degree tip and hold the sprayer about 12" - 16" away from the deck. The tip produces a nice "fan" spray. This should be sufficient to clean most of them.
Good Luck!
I've never used cleaner..just the pressure from the washer was enough..but go easy on that cause it can chip and/or split the wood. just want it hard enough to get the grime and bring back the wood. No cleaners means no chemicals in the ground, near your plants,or your family.
I agree with Susan.
Power washers do damage the wood and cause it to splinter.
A good, stiff bristle push broom, a bucket of sudsy water and a lot of elbow grease will do the job and not damage the deck.
