How do you french braid?

Question:I have a 5 year old daughter and wants her hair french braided.

Answers:
I taught myself to french braid and it took hours and hours of practice day in and day out. But it's worth it and it is a beautiful and cool summery way for a little girl to wear her hair. OK, I'll try to explain it but if you can get a video or have someone show you it would be much better. Start at the top and take a section in the front on top. Divide it into three strands. Take one strand from side and bring it over the middle strand and to the other side. Bring that side over the middle strand and to the other side. As you bring the side strands over you're tightening the braid and switching to the strand. I'm sorry but I think this is way to hard to actually explain. Switching strands while you hold onto the braid so it won't undo is the tricky part. This is probably just enough to discourage you, sorry. I think you really do need to have someone show you how to do it. Maybe take her to a salon and pay to have it done and have them show you how to do it. Here's a great website that shows you how to do it!!

well, it may be kinda hard to learn if you dont see it but you can try!
1. take three pieces of hair from the front
2. take the strand of hair in the middle and pull it under either strand on the side
3. when you have the middle piece over take some more hair from the front and add it to that piece so its one big piece of hair
4.then you have three peices again so take the middle piece (the new one) and pull that under the other peice of hair that you havent used yet
5. then take more hair from the front and add it to that peice that you just pulled over from the front
6. just keep doing this and you'll have a french braid

sorry if its kinda confusing you can always look it up on google or sumthin and there will probably be pcitures

Good luck!
The first two Answerer's did a great job explaining it!! I had to buy a book to learn..LOL The book I got was a very simple, easy to follow manual, with diagrams for French, Dutch and several other cool braids...and it was very cheap:) You might check eBay. It was strange though, it was easier to "braid myself" than my daughter??LOL
Best of Luck!!
