How To Clean A Shower Head?

Question:I have a shower head that is not spraying water like it should. How can I clean the shower head and with what products?

Answers:
Put one cup of white vingegar into a plastic bag. Place the bag over the shower head secure it with rubber band, making sure the head is immersed. Leave it on overnight and then take it off the next morning. Even if you get a little vinegar on your skin it won't hurt you. CLR and Lime Away will harm your skin and eyes if they come on contact with it. I do this with my shower heads and it WORKS.

Dip it in lime away...
Limeaway or CLR works great for that.
lime away
Limeaway, or CLR, any cleaning product that disolves rust or calcium.
Take the shower head off and soak it in either vinegar,Lime Away, or CLR for about 1 hour.
Like the first respondent, dipping it in a bowl or bucket of Lime Away might help. Another product is CLR, it removes rust, lime and something else (I forget what the C stands for).
take it off and dip it in limeaway or clr
Remove it and soak it in a dilute solution of CLR and water. You can buy CLR at a hardware store or even at some grocery stores. Gray rectangular bottle. Works perfect for this application.
get some of that CLR and unscrew it and put inside of the CLR for like 45 mins to an hour.
It's probably full of chalk.. You should get another one.
Get some C.L.R. (removes calcium, lime and rust) and remove the head and let it soak in the CLR for about an hour, then rinse well, you should see a dramatic improvement.
I get LimeAway or a product called CLR and put it in a little container, hold it up to the shower head for a little while, scrub with a toothbrush and repeat.

If you can easily remove your shower head, you may be able to improve this process by soaking it in the cleaning product.
Hi! I would suggest taking the head off and soaking it in vinegar. It is the least expensive-cost effective way of cleaning the shower head. --If it doesn' t help, I would go to CLR, which cleans out the calcium, lime, and rust. Hope this helps!
cillit bang! its FAB
Don't bother with removing the shower head~Just take a plastic cup, fill it 1/2 way full with Lime-a-way or Vinegar and stick it over/under the head, so that it is soaking in it, and just tape it around there with some masking or duct tape!! Leave it on there awhile, depending how bad it is:)
Works everytime!!
Good Luck!!
lots of things on market inc. vinegar, best chemical, ds3 from most builders merchants
Over the course of months or years, small particles of rock and sand and particles of pipe end up in the screens and holes of shower heads and faucet heads.

You can clean it with lime-away, if you don't leave it to set too long, but that won't eliminate the larger particles blocking the holes.

You need to take it off and take it apart. Stick a small needle into the head from the outside going inward. This Rinse water on it, forcing water in the opposite to normal flow direction to rinse the particles out.

Or, you can buy a new one for 5 or 10 bucks. Might be worth not going through the hassle.

10% vinegar you may have to dis assemble & drill out too
soak it in vinegar and water overnight. In the morning give it a good shake and tap on the countertop a couple times to dislodge any debris.
