Where can I find out how to build my own home?
Question:I want to build a small home like 2 bed, 1 bath. Something simple that my father and I can build. Where do i find free plans or some info on Proper Home building? Thanks!!

well i applaude your desire to tackle such a project, but i must tell you that if you are inexperienced you will run into more problems than you could imagine. i have been building houses for many years and have always had someone with more experience than me to answer questions. i would suggest finding someone with experience to help. if you ask family and friends enough you will come up with something
I don't mean to offend anyone, but if you have to ask you had better hire someone to build it for you. In my experiences in the past 16 years anytime that somebody then they quickly find out that they are in way over their head. I would hardily suggest that you find a Builder or a general contractor. Your best source is Mother Earth News magazine. Not only can you get plans but they are ecologically sound, can save you a lot of money and lots of extra help can be found through the variety of resources available through this magazine. They probably have a website and can source you to what you are looking for. They have some really cool ideas!!
no one posts free plans that you can actually use, they have to be stamped by a certified arch. www.diy.com has some good advice.i build houses and garages, just recieved a new set of plans today. e-mail me and i will do what i can to help you out.
Some lumber yards like "84 Lumber" offer material kits that have everything you need to build a house. That is a good place to start.
