What's the best way to remove windows in my home?
Question:I recently bought replacement windows for my home. We already replaced two. The old ones though, you cannot remove the glass. We had to break it to get the window out because the frame is built into the brick. Does anyone know an easier way or a way to make it where breaking the glass is less messy? When we broke the last one, glass went all over the yard outside and is impossible to clean it all up.
Answers:
The only way to avoid the glass getting every where if it has to be broken is to tape the glass completely with duct tape before breaking. If I am replacing a window I always do this to protect myself in case the glass does break.
I am in the process of replacing windows now and the ones in brick I am using a reciprocating saw and cutting the old aluminum frame so the entire window can be removed except for the nail fins which are behind the brick.
throw rocks at them
Turn on a shop-vac and throw hard objects at the window panes.
