Cheapest option for a simple garage or carport?
Question:I am looking for some type of pre fab kit etc. to put up our own carport or garage for our beach house in Texas. Any suggestions?

A few years ago my husband bought a garage kit at 84 Lumber. If you have those near where you live, check there. I know they still advertise kits.
beach house makes me worry cause if you're down on the coast it could be very costly to put up cause it must meet windload requirements . .not all pre fab kits will meet those requirements. . my cusin lives in Texas City and could not build the same metal barn we did in Cypress cause of windload . . bad thing to find out after the kit was delevered
I would suggest go to google.com and research "awnings or portable car ports". I know there are several different models to choose from at different price ranges.
Depending on the weather,location and how often you are at the beach house ... a retractable awning may be the best bet.
