How can I make a canopy for my back yard that is inexpensive?!?
Question:I'm having many guests over for my little boys birthday next weekend and I want to provide enough shade for them. How can I make a canopy for them to sit/stand under that will be inexpensive, will stay up and easy to make? Looking at them at stores there is no way I can afford to buy one for that price. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!!
Answers:
Buy a large tarp, two support poles. Put two eye bolts into the framing underneath the gutter, the width of the tarp. Two S hooks, attach the S hooks to the eye bolts stretch tarp out into the yard and attach ends of the tarp to the poles.Saw this on DIY network.
go to craigslist.org
find your local area craigslist and post it in the wanted section or look for it in the offer section. It's free and probably your best bet. Maybe you want to offer to rent or borow it or offer something in return...up to you
good luck
I have done what you want to do with an inexpensive plastic tarp. Get a green, white, or silver one (not blue) and get it as big as you can. Fasten one corner to your house, garage, or tree with an eyebolt. Use poles at the other three corners and hold up with rope like you would do with a tent.
I can also tell you that some home stores sell very inexpensive canopies (under $25 for 10 x 10) Look Around.
use sheets and tabile cloths from like the 99cent store can you say inexspensive
Why don't you take a look at these:

I am thinking about adding these to my backyard. I look at them in person and they're pretty tough.
Good Luck!
buy a large tarp at wal-mart. fasten it to polls, beams or any item that will stand up.
I bought one last year when I was working on my car and needed shade. It was only 19.95 and I have seen them at many different places for 19.95 to 119.95 or more for the better quality.
You can buy one cheaper than you can buy the materials to make one.
goto your local hardware store and buy a canvas dropcloth. or look for a canvas tarp- kellie
Here is an idea for FREE TARP.
Go to Home Depot, buy everything you need for your project, and then return it after the party.FREE
Hey, I got this idea after seeing a guy standing in line after Christmas returning an extention ladder and 5 boxes of lights.
You can RENT canopies for the event. they are not expensive, are professinally installed and you can order drop sides if necessary.
Smaller ones can be easily installed by you and some friends.
Try a Rent It All or Party Store in your area.
