What to use on stubborn shower doors?
Question:I have tried every product on the market to clean my shower doors. I even bought a scum buster. NO LUCK!! Does anyone have any secret ingredients that will take the scum off of the doors? Believe me, I have tried ALL the products out there!!
Answers:
wd40 lubricant with a good 3m green scrubber...spray, scrub and leave it for a few minutes...it should dissolve the soap scum. after that use a powder cleaner (i.e. Ajax) it will get rid of the rest. Rinse well and dry with soft cloth.
Limeaway if its really bad, leave it on for awhile and use elbow grease.
sounds like you should consider a water softener
try liguid dish washing machine soap and a good heavy duty scrubby pad we use the ones that are black with the handle from home depot grill pads keep scrubbing.if if feels smooth then you have gotten rid of all the scummy stuff if they are not shiny then they are etched and it's time to replace them. good luck
Vinegar after a good cleaning With (Easy off Bam,Limeaway,Comet etc What ever it takes..I like Bam)
then rinse and apply to dry doors..
Rain X (found in automotive) (follow directions)
You will have much cleaner shower doors for a long time.
Just keep it wiped down with a squeegee and clean as needed and reapply Rain X as needed.
I have always done this and only have to give my doors one good scrubbing every year.
I have run into the same problem. If you have a couple hours and less than $200 just replace to doors. I spend over $100 in different cleaning products and nothing work. Then when I was at one of the big box stores I found that new doors were less than $200 so I just replaced then. Know they look great and stay clean. Hope this helps.
