How do you make concrete counter tops?

Question:I am an experienced DIY'er, right now remodeling the kitchen.

I think these custom made concrete counter tops are beautiful, but I am a cheapskate, and really don't want to pay for the information to do something myself. So, if you can tell me how to make concrete counter tops like those pictured on the web page, or direct me to where I can read about making these types of concrete counter tops myself, I'd appreciate it. Have you any experience making countertops like those pictured here: http://www.concreteexchange.com/?ovraw=h...

These tops are heavy so If you have good cabinets your fine. You could put legs like table on 4 corner island and a 2by along wall elsewhere to reinforce cabinets you will need to put(i put a sheet of plastic down first to cover all cabinet for protection) 5/8 ply on top of cabinets then build form around to desired shape use trim to make bottom or top edge (make sure it at least 1 1/2 thick in middle )interesting. Order some light weight premixed bagged cement with small or no agrigate ( My fav) Lay some Light reinforcing wire down ) . To help with cracks. And pour away making sure to work all edges well so no air bubbles left. You can mix any color you want in.

If pieces are not to big pour them out side and set on cabinets hold in place with silicon caulk adhesive.
I have only done small tops and they have came out nice. I'd make up a practice top and use just bagged cement mix to see how much moisture leakage you have. Good luck

Nope, sorry. However, their book is less than $20, and that's a great price for some instruction.

Considering they say the average cost is around $25-$30 per sq ft, the book looks ike a good deal if it has actual useful info.
