How do I wire this and can I wire this many things in a series?
Question:OK this is a special wiring situation that I want to see if it can work.
This customer wants most of the lighting in his house to be on a 3 way motion detecting dimmer switch so his lights in his house will come on when he starts walking to his door it has to be a dimmer switch because this persons eyes are sensitive to any kind of bright light it is like the way they dilate wrong or something. and he also wants this series controlled by a photo cell so the lights wont come on in the day. and he also wants it controlled by a single pole switch in his bedroom it is a remodel so it wont necessarily be inspected but can I put so many switches on one circuit and if so in what oder should I wire the circuit I was thinking motion sensor/dimmer,photo cell,single pole in that order what do you think and can I wire this to NEC?and if not where in there does it say I cant.?

Point him in the direction of the BSR or X10 type controller. He can decide what controller and modules are best for his needs and budget and install it himself.
Or you can do it. But most dimmers have a limit of around 600W. Some are as low as 300 W. That is one reason you can't have it all controlled off the same dimmer. The other is that you want to have diferent circuits for different areas of the house. One dimmer cannot span multiple circuits. But a single controller can control multiple dimmers.

you shouldn't have a problem and it does not say any thing in the NEC about the amount of switches on one circuit
the order shouldnt matter but you never know what i suggest is to take all your components and wire them togather to a regular wal cord and test them all on the circuit and figure out witch order they need to in
I would suggest using one of the computer conrolled devices out now. Like the X10 system, you can find them at Home Depot and Lowes, etc.
Or if he has the money, then you could go to a full industrial PLC system like Honeywell's PLC-5. good luck.
