The deadbolt on the french doors do not lock anymore?
Question:

water may have warped the base of the doors causing them to swell and not line up properly anymore. If so repair them and repaint any water damage and re-seat them. RESPONSE TO EMAIL: SOMETIMES SPRINKLER WATER GETS INTO FRAME/WALL AND CAUSES MORTISE MAL-ALIGNMENT. THIS MAY GO AWAY AFTER THE WALL OR FRAME DRIES OUT IF THIS IS THE CASE. THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS TO MY DOORS.
I am assuming the deadbolt itself is still good. If the bolt is no longer in line with the keeper, something has moved. It could be the doors warping, the framing sill has settled, whatever, but if you cannot fix the major causes, simply moving the keeper plate will get the lock working again. Remove the keeper plate. Now lock the deadbolt and push the door as if you are closing it. When the bolt touches the other door, make a mark at top and bottom edge of the bolt, with a pencil. If the existing hole does not line up with these marks, adjust ( redrill or chisel ) the hole location until it lines up. Re-mortise the keeper location for a flush fit. This should get you back in business.
