What spray paint will adhere over laminated wood furniture? & do i need to prime?

Question:

Answers:
I am not sure what laminated furniture is but is should not make a difference in the answer. Certain paints and other finishes are not compatible, you could just try a spot and see what happens. My recommentation though is to apply a coat of shellac and then paint. Shellac will stick to almost anything and almost everthing will stick to it. This will not work on something that emits an oil such as certain kinds mahogony and rosewood. That is not a likely problem thought.

Yes, prime first so the paint adheres.
You can use the spray paint they sell at Wal-Mart, it's the one for plastic and outdoor
I would prime but also a very clean surface would help. You can clean it with any product that doesnt leave a residue or light smoothing with a scotchbrite material would help.
I think you may need to use building adhesive
like uni bond to seal the flooring first . if you are using good quality paint only paint would do..
if you like you can painted it 2ice allowing time to dry in between
. The best i found is FUSION by krylon they make a primer
and many different color's. rust- oleum also makes paint that would work ,but i like kirlon better ( home depot - Lowe's- wall mart) 1-800-4krylon made in Cleveland Ohio
GET A CAN OF SPRAY KILZ AND DO 3 LIGHT COATS. YOU JUST WANT TO DUST EACH COAT ON. DON'T TRY TO COVER IT IN ONE COAT OR I PROMISE YOU WILL GET DRIPS AND RUNS. THIS IS YOUR PRIMER COAT..IT WILL ADHERE TO THE LAMINATE. THEN YOU CAN USE ANY SPRAY PAINT YOU WANT FOR THE FINISH. IT WILL ADHERE AND BOND TO THE KILZ.
USE A SPONGE SANDER TO LIGHTLY SAND THE SURFACE'S AFTER THE KILZ IS DRY. DUST OFF..THEN GIVE THE FINISH COAT. SAME PROCESS..DON'T TRY TO COVER IN ONE COAT.
I am almost scared to answer this question. I try to only answer the ones I feel I have a good chance at getting the best answer for and it looks like some one doesn't like any of the answers with all the thumbs down but I'll go out on a limb here and do it anyway.
Wood is wood. Whether it is laminated or not doesn't matter. If you are useing spray paint, I would suggest you sand it with 150 to 180 grit sand paper to get oils or other things off that would cause the paint not to adhere to it.
Then use a tack rag, (which is a rag that has a sticky compound in it that takes all the dust off), and wipe it down real good. You can buy these at any store such as Lowes, Home Depot, and any paint store at all.
Make sure you wipe it down good, because spray paint goes on thin and any dust at all will show up through the finish when it has dried good. Maybe even before it dries.
You can put a primer on it before the final coat, but I never do. I use the same finish paint for the primer. I just dust it lighty with the same paint I'll finish it with, and then let it dry good, which doesn't take long with spray paint. Maybe an hour or so, at the most.
Then very, very lightly sand it with 220 grit paper and again wipe it down with the tack rag.
Then spray a good solid coat on it.
It doesn't realy matter what tpye of paint you use. You would be hard pressed to find a can of spray paint that wouldn't work on wood for interior use. Almost any spray pain will stick to nearly anything preped right except plastic and tile.
Even the cheapest brands of spray paint will do just as good as the highest priced will for wood. If it were metal, that wouldn't be so, but for wood, nearly all of them will do a good job.
You can check the discount stores like Big Lots and all and whatever they have will do about as good as the best brand names will.
The biggest thing to remember is the prep work is 90% of the job when it comes to painting.
Good luck
