How to calculate the number of bundle and stacks for a given roof?
Question:
Answers:
Take your length and width of your roof and multiply. (I.E. 20 x 30 = 600) then divide this number by 100, for the ex. above 600 divided by 100 = 6. Then multiply 6 x 3 = 18. The 3 represents 3 bundles per sq. A sq. is 100 sq. ft. So on the ex. I listed you would need 18 bundles of shingles. It is recommended that you add a 10% waste factor
Begin with the measured square footage of the roof.
Then contact the supplier of your material and ask how much of the specific material you want it will take to cover your measured square footage.
Do not be afraid to ask questions from suppliers. They do calculations a lot more often that the installers. It's OK to let them help.
You'll need to use this formula
L(ength) * W(idth) = A(rea) for the roof area
look at one bundle to see what the coverage area is for that box/bundle.
then :
(total roof area) / (bundle coverage area) = (number of bundles needed)
example:
roof area = 500 sq ft
bundle coverage = 50 sq ft.
500 / 50 = 10 bundles needed
