Several companies make a foot switch with a special cord that plugs into the wall, and you plug your appliance into the back of the plug. Grainger and Newark.com sell them.
I try not to give electrical advice it it sounds like a bad idea with out experienced help because most warranties are voided if you cut off the plug. plus it would have to be good for wet locations.
