Do any of you happen to know what this tool is called?

Question:We have a large barrel, and want to order the tool that is sort of u-shaped and is used to unscrew the rim holding the lid to the barrel.

Answers:
To unscrew the cap of a 55 gallon drum, use a Bung wrench. It is the technical term for it. For removal of the DOT band, use a cresant wrench to loosten the blot and then the metal should come off rather easily. Hope this helps.

A wrench?
Don't know exactly, but..

Go to www.mcmaster.com (McMaster-Carr website)
Upper left of screen where it says find product, put in barrel, then hit find. It'll give you all sorts of possibilities with pictures. You may find it there.
Not sure where you get it at but its a large clamping tool that goes around the lid with a handle and clamps to the lid to screw it off kinda like a oil filter wrench hope this helps
well we usually use a wrench to remove the clamps on the barrels. with out seeing what you are talking about for sure.. its hard to tell..
As mentioned it's called a Barrel or Drum Wrench. While there are different types here's a common type: http://www.globalindustrial.com/gcs/prod...
