Question:my house is really hot and it's 95 and my dad refuses to buy an air conditonar. How do I keep my house or just room cool?

Answers:
At night; open all windows that cannot be entered by intruders.
Early morning If the weather has cooled the home ;Close windows and shades.
Get an attic fan that is solar (rebates available)
Check out site for Real Goods. They have solar fans.
dress light . Change light bulbs to the new twisted looking kind; they burn cooler & cheaper.

fans? or just not be at home
You dont my dad is the same way thats why me and my sisters moved out.
do like my Granny did. she would soak sheets in cool water and hang them over open windows so that the breeze would be cooled by the water in the sheet. She would spritz the sheet (and herself) with water to freshen it.
She also turned fans on to move the air.

Cool (not cold) showers help too.
OK! There is a great Do-it-yourself way to MAKE an air conditioner using your fan, a bucket of ice water and some copper tubing. I did it and it works GREAT! Check online. It was VERY easy!
sit still..don't move..

Or in the old days, they would tie strips of wet cloth to the fan..it added a bit of humidity which is cooling

or buy a pool
