I have an Air Conditioner But.?
Question:I bought a window A/C unit and I was in the process of mounting it outside my living room window. My landlord saw me and said it wasn't allowed. Is there any way I can use my new unit INDOORS?? My roommate says that we can tape a cardboard box around the back with a hole for a filter hose then just put the filter hose through the window. Is this possible...any suggestions??

u'r not allowed to have unit A/c that u purchased for u'r apt? WOw. i would find out about those rules in u'r city. They have apt. tennant laws.
sory can't help u w/ the mounting but i would find out those laws.. that's jst soooo wrong esp. if U PURCHASED it.
NO. The air will take humidity out of the house and then it drips outside. If you plug the back, the unit will turn into a BIG block of ice and then the compressor will burn up. SORRY
try looking up tenant landlord rights for your state and she if you can find out if it is even legal for them to deny you the right to use the unit you purchased. Just do a search for tenant landlord rights or go to your states government website and look it up there.
Yup except the unit will probably heat up your house...Your landlord sounds like a D*&***#k
Does your apartment have an air conditioning unit already?
If not, you should look into habitability laws in your jurisdiction. In CA, an apartment must be cooled in the summer. Most states have laws that dictate how warm an apt must be in the winter and how cool in the summer.
Not only may you be able to use the AC unit but you may be able to deduct the costs from rent (though you will have to leave it when you move). If you need any help send me an e-mail. Oh and I agree with the other PP about it freezing. Sorry.
