Basic wiring of lights - how to?

Question:I have one run going to a junction box then one set of wires goes to a recept then a switch, then a light. At that same junction box another wire goes to another recept and then a second juction box at which time two wires come out. One goes to a switch and then a light, the other goes to another switch and light. What do I need to know about the connections. Is there a black and white going to switches (white top & blk bottom)? Saw sparks at my first junction box. Any thoughts?

Answers:
O.K. man, putting all the rude wise cracks aside...

If you have one box that leads to two switches it is called a three-way switch. These can get pretty complicated and are not the type of thing you really want to mess with. I respect the DIY in you but I think you should call an electrician on this one.

Take a "Home Wiring" class at your local community college. I think you would get a lot out of it.

Good Luck.

Yeah.leave it alone before you electrocute yourself, get an electrician.
If you saw sparks then you are not smart enough to turn off the electricity before working on this!! Get someone who knows what they are doing,,,you DO NOT want to have to attend your own funeral!
the basic rule for power is if you at any time have to ask, you should not be messing with it.
in your case you have a continuing circuit.
you should not atempt this yourself....
be smart... pay a pro on this one..save your money by doing what you know about...like.
change your own oil in your car, or fix something easier to save, but this time on this one pay to get it done..
just common since ...

The fact that you saw sparks proves that I am right.
Go low-voltage and call a professional landscape lighting installer, not an electrician.
