I want to build a chainsaw holder for my quad, need suggestions!?
Question:I have a 2003 Polaris Trail Boss and would like to build and attach some sort of chainsaw holder so I can take my chainsaw without having to hold it on my lap. Has anyone done this before?

Assuming you have a rack on it you could use some bungee cords. Simple yet elegant.
There are two ways to accomplish this. Back in the olden days before ATVs, we used to strap chainsaws on our dirt bikes. The setup most preferred was to mount it like the gun scabbards are mounted today. Build a holder for the blade out of oak. (A thin rectangular box that the blade can slide into.) Attach two straps to the box for holding the saw in place. Make a mount for the box or use a scabbard mount if you have one lying around. Attach this to one of your racks. Slide the saw blade into the holder and strap down the saw. Good to go and it takes up very little space. Remember that the strongest part of the saw is the blade area so this holds up well to abuse. The oak box won't damage the chain. I wish I had taken pictures of how these were mounted to the front forks on a cycle. It was a true road warrior look!
The other way is to build a box to hold the entire saw and mount it flat on the front or rear rack. Be sure to rubber mount this as the saw wasn't built to take impacts on the engine cases and such. This works good but does take up most of the rack. Get one of the special gas cans that holds gas, bar oil and tools to save on space also. I know Stihl sells these and probably others as well.
P.S. Avoid holding sharp object in your lap while riding! That's a tough area to stitch!
