Best process to paint a wooden crib?
Question:I'm sanding my son's crib to paint it white for our new child on the way. I want it to look nice, do I just buy the spray paint from Home Depot, etc, or do it need to put something else before I paint like a primer or something..? I've never done this before. Trying to save some money buy using the crib we already have and just repainting it. Any tips?

Here are a few tips -
1) Prep your surface really well - Here's a great site that explains that - http://www.generalfinishes.com/tips/prep...
2) Use a water based paint b/c that's one of the safest and most environmentally friendly choices. Here's a Squidoo lens that explains why - http://www.squidoo.com/waterbasedwoodfin...
My favorite brand is General Finishes. They are an award-winning manufacturer. Here's their site. Check out their store locator to find the closest store to you that supplies their brand. http://www.generalfinishes.com

HTH!
To do a nice job, you need to use a good primer and paint. Spray paint will work if you have a steady hand, but the brush on is better. People at the paint store should be able to recommend a paint that is safe for children.
I'm not totally sure but, you have to make sure it's non-toxic paint.
prime it first then put two coats of paint latex paint and make sure it is child friendly.a spray gun does a better job but a brush will work also if you can't afford it.
