Can you use a metal cutting circular blade to cut hardwood flooring?

Question:Laying tile in my foyer. The hardwood floor is curved that butts up to where the tile will go. We want to straighten out this curve so the tile will be more uniform. The problem is we can't see the nails that are in the hardwood floor until we get to them with the saw. Can we use a metal cutting saw blade to cut thru the wood and the nails in the hardwood floor?

Answers:
Yes, you can..the metal blade will actually cut a much thinner clean line than a wood blade would. Very good question..and smart thinking before ya went and used a wood blade on the wood floor. You may even want to make a mark/ line and score it with a razor knife before you cut. This will prevent the wood and finish from cracking! WEAR SAFETY GLASSES! and good luck

Sure but beware this blade may splinter the wood.
yes you can.get a carbide tipped saw blade.it cut thru a lot.it should cut a smooth cut since it will be new.
A fine tooth metal cutting blade in a "sawzall" should work.
1- Don't rush and burn up the blade with too fast a speed.
2- You can a 16 metal cutting blade to cut a little faster but there is less risk of making a sloppy cut using the finer 32 (teeth per inch) and the slower speed.
Good Luck ! ! !
Stop being a coward. Use a fine-tooth circular saw blade for wood and just make the cut. Odds are that you won't hit any nails, but if you do it's a good idea to have a spare blade ready just in case. A metal cutting blade will not work very well at all on wood. To be on the safe side, mark your line with a utility blade. Score the hardwood a few times and then cut so the cut line is in the waste side of the line. A scored line like this will help to prevent the hardwood from splintering and give you a nice clean edge.

I've cut through nails accidentally with a carbide tipped saw blade and the only thing that happened was the blade was slightly dull after that.

A sawzall is for rough demolition work and will not be satisfactory at all for what you want to do. You will never be able to get a straight line.
