You might want to try using orange hand cleaner, like Go-Jo or something. I used it yesterday to take vinyl tile adheasive off my hands. Good luck.
Lacquer Thinner works well as long as you have good ventilation
Not sure how similar face wax is to candle wax, but give the mighty kitchen spatula a try before resorting to chemicals.

put a few drops of oil around the edges of the wax and give it a few moments to work its way under, then chip the wax off with a box cutter or exacto knife.
the best thing to get wax off of anything without changing the color or ruining anything is goof off. it takes even crayon off walls and other wax items off of different things. it takes off labels off of dishes and plastic ware. and it is colorfast safe.
