How to replace a benchtop's lamination?

Question:I have burned a small part of my benchtop. How can I remove the lamination and replace it with the new one?

Answers:
First, you remove the veneer (for whatever it's made of) with a chisel. Then you sand the substrate and, it's got to be F L A T. Next you glue down the new veneer and clamp it down with a vacuum bag veneer clamp. Next...trim the new veneer with a veneer router. Put a finish on the new veneer if necessary. Now, ask yourself, just how bad is this itsy bitsy teeny weeny burn spot , really?.

bets to just lamintae straight over the old.
Hot air gun to release the glue underneath. Carefull not to burn the substrate.

Use an airgun for the adhesive for the installation from a rental store. Or a correct notch trowel recommended by adhesive manufacturer. use 1/4 inch dowels between the new laminate and glue until you get it in the right position and then slide them out as the glue is very sticky. A good flat roller over the top. Trim with a router or zip saw, trim with edge banding and you've got it.
