Besides generators wat else is usable in this high tech era to run atleast a fan &a tube light during blackout
Question:Consider yourself living in an area where there's blackout everday usually at night from 6 to 8 hours. Now the climate is hot and dry. Are there any economical equipments that allow you to run maybe 2 ceiling fans and a tube light atleast for several hours. I know about generators but they can be very expeinsive. Anyone know anyting thats economical, reliable and easy to handle, use and maintain.
Links to websites that sell that equipment will be very helpful

I'm installing a wind generator in my back yard.

The battery bank will be charged through wind energy. It powers inverters which will then power sections of the house. This is essentially a very large UPS. It can be left online permanently. The batteries will keep charged while AC power is supplied and will power the fan and lights as needed.
You could build something similar with deep cycle batteries, battery charger, and an inverter. Look for a pure sine wave inverter rather than a modified sine wave inverter. It will work better with florescent lights and many appliances including your ceiling fans.
How do you plan to supply power to the ceiling fans during an outage? Is there some way to power the entire electrical circuit from the inverter?
Deep cycle batteries, a battery charger and an inverter. There's even inexpensive "emergency" power supplies that have all of these fore mentioned things in them. They're usually and erroneously marketed as 'generators'
and come with wheels and a handle. Plug and play. Look over at Northern Tool and Harbour Freight (just add .com) The cheapest ones in the generator categories will be what your looking for.
Small UPS, Inverter - 650 watt with two 12 volt, 180AH batteries in series. it should give you atleast 7-9 hours backs
Fans are appx - 75 watts to 125 watts max. (for inverter needs it is taken as somewhere between 90 watts)
Tubelight = 40 watts
