Dewalt vs. Ryobi in cordless power tools battle - who wins?

Question:I'm looking to buy new cordless power tools where every tool uses the same battery and these are my two choices. What is your opinion? Got any better suggestions? Thanks!

Answers:
Dewalt is heavier duty than Ryobi. Motors and battery last longer with Dewalt.

DeWalt - Hands down - More Durable
In my opinion, Dewalt is the better choice but I also believe that it is more expensive than Ryobi. However, I would certainly take into consideration the quality of the batteries for each and the replacement cost for new ones. On most cordless tools, replacing the batteries is about as much as buying a new tool. That's where they get you. You may want to look into Consumer reports to find out what they think. The December 2004 issue rated cordless power tool kits and the November 2006 issue rated cordless drills. I can also remember seeing a sale going on for Dewalt cordless sets (drill, driver, recip saw, etc) at Grizzly.com. It was somewhere around $500 for 5 or 6 tools with batteries, charger and storage bag. Give it a look.
Dewalt, by far.
i think its as broad as it is long...either/or! personally i'd buy makita!
Dewalt 2 to 1
Dewalt is better. You should also consider Porter Cable.
what everbody said here is good.
dewalt may be better quality and you'll pay a higher price for it. Ryobi def has the cheapest in battery replacements (this is a big factor !) also I believe Ryobi has more tool options for their 18V set than DeWalt.
Both are good, but as a heavy duty, I use "milwaukee"

We own a construction company and my husband prefers Dewalt all the way. he has tried all the others and none of them have held up to Dewalt, in both Battery length and durablity.

my sister in law also imports tools for a living, neither of the choices but she also says Dewalt would be the way to go. mainly because she has toured the plants that make the tools and knows what the difference is between the building of them.
If you're looking for durability, go with the Dewalt. That said, however the Ryobi is still a good choice. Since they are much less expensive than Dewalt or other premium brands, you can justify buying the cheaper tools, and replacing them when they wear out. Another brand to consider is Kawasaki. I recently (3 months ago) purchased one of their 21 volt cordless drills. It performs as well as a friend's Dewalt, and was less than half the price.
Dewalt would easily kill Ryobi in a quality duel. However, Ryobi is cheap, but I would never buy another tool from them after my last drill. I buy Black and Decker.
i do building maintenace on a daily basis i have both sets of tools ryobi at work and dewalt at home after using both of them if you use them for heavy construction dewalt is the winner but if you are using them like most home owners do go with the ryobi the options they have as far as tools go blows dewalt out of the water i currently have the portable shop vac, drill hammer drill combo, flashlight, sawsall, skill saw, jigsaw, impact driver, angle drill.detail sander and the leaf blower all work great and i have had no problems with any of them.
Dewalt

I do like Bosch my cordless saw lasts better than any other I used I have the 24 volt kit with drill and saws all batteries interchange with skill
If you have to choose between the two, Dewalt is probably the better choice. However, look into getting Rigid power tools. Very durable and priced reasonably.
Hmmmm...Mercedes or Hyundai? DeWalt...For sure!
