Hi suzie B,
I live on 3rd floor in my building tell me about it.
I covered all 10 of my windows with tin foil (shiny side out-75 ft. of Roundy's-from Rainbow's-brand, foil covered them all) except where my house plants are then I used a bi-fold (pleated) temporiy shade that I found at Menard's has to 2 clips so I can adjust the shade. At night when it's cooler out open your windows & run fans to circulate the air. I also have a air conditioner if it really get's to hot. Insulated-lined backed drapes would probably do the same thing, but I stenciled flowers, birds, bees, lady bugs, trees to the foil & I like that better. Stay cool & have a good night. :0)
keep all the lights out and shades down on the windows, and lots of fans.
in top floor apartment hot air is trapped near the ceiling which is hard to remove, use electric fan to circulate the air. the fan used very little electricity.
if you have a window, I would suggest a small air conditioner. All a fan will do is move the hot air around..been there and done that. good luck to you.
