How do I polish stainless steel with a dull appearance to a mirror finish?

Question:What kit do I need and what sort of timescale. Thanks.

So easy when you know how!

Clean it as you normally would and dry off, then apply a small amount of Johnson's Baby Oil with some kitchen roll. Rub it all over and it will be gleaming like a mirror and completely streak free!

I was amazed that this worked so well, but was let in to the secret by someone at a cleaning company. Please try it, you will be amazed!

Bon ami- lots of elbow grease- or cameo stainless steel cleaner.
To be honest you need a lot of time and patience frst and formeost, then a lot of elbow grease to polish iwth varying grades of emery cloth, going up to a fine buffer pad

It will be easier to go a local fabricators who specilise in SS and buy it of them, a sheet of SS 16g is about £200 at the moment , but if they have an off cut you may find they will let you have it
I use a product called Bar Keepers Friend. It is like a cleanser, but not as abrasive. Good luck!
well I use plain old bleach and a pot scrub make sure the entire area is covered leave for 10 mins or more if you can then rinse off comes up sparkling.
Some years ago Solvol Autosol stainless steel/alloy polish was _the_ product to use. It should still be available from Halfords or similar outlets. By repeated application and a lot of elbow movement, an motorcycle alloy gearbox could be made to look like a stainless steel mirror. It was effective on dull stainless steel car bumpers, too.
There is a product made by the same company as Bar Keepers Friend, it is called Copper Glo. I have used it for 30 years to clean stainless pots and pans and sinks. The house I am currently living in, 6 years ago when I bought it, the stainless kitchen sink looked as if it had never been cleaned. I used the Copper Glo and a Scotch Brite scrub sponge and after about a week of daily scrubbing it looked like a new sink. You also need to make sure that your stainless sink does not have a satin finish. If it does it will not shine like glass, but you will get a low luster sheen from removing all the tarnish. Here is the link to the website to purchase this product if you cannot find it in a store: http://yhst-55367440605114.stores.yahoo.
Rub in a little oil and rub.
Baby Oil is great for giving a shining finish
