How can I fix the leak in a hamster water bottle?-with the ball that allows for the water to flow?
Question:The bottle is inverted and attached to the cage. It keeps dripping water. It was suppose to create a sunction to prevent leaks but it didn't work. Any IDEAS??
Answers:
Buy a new one. Walmart has them for as low as $2 for the smaller sizes. :)
For the price, its probably easier, there may be a crack, and that could be tricky to fix.
If it is a new bottle exchange it for an other one, but if it is used cleaning inside where the ball is may help. It will also leak if the tip where the ball is, bent.
For my rabbit cage I abandoned those silly water bottles from the pet store and started using regular human bottled water bottles; like the small Arrowhead ones. The head was exactly the same size and I just took the cap with the ball and put it on the Arrowhead bottle. That way I can replace them more often and cheaply, and recycle them.
well, the metal part that holds the ball could have gotten bent. but when i was little i had hamsters, and i think you need to scrub the bottle out, and the gasket ring that screws the bottle to the metal part.
otherwise, get a new one. they are cheap.
The ball needs to fit tight, make sure there is no dirt blocking the ball from seating in the tube, also the lid needs to be screwed tight any air getting in lets water come out.
