The tub in my upstairs bathroom takes forever to drain?
Question:Should I use a plunger to see if I can unclog it? Or can recommend any products that can help?
Answers:
Sounds like your problem is hair in the drain. If you can remove the hair then the drain will work normal.
The best way to do this is to use a snake. There are hand and power snakes available. Many of the other types of clog removers either don't work or may harm pipes.
Check other drains in that bathroom and try to isolate the clog. Once isolated you can concentrate your efforts.
use plunger, and drain clear
I'd try a plunger first. If that doesn't work, go to a drain snake - they are pretty cheap and can be found in any hardware or home center.
If you do use drain cleaner, don't use a plunger or snake afterward. You could get those chemicals to come back up and burn you.
Use a liquid/gel drain cleaner. The most potent can be found at your local hardware store around the plumbing department. It is probably hair. The cleaner should unclog the obstruction pretty fast. Run some hot water after allowing the product to work.
use some drain-o and then plunge it like ten mintues later.
if that doesnt work you could always just wait and drain your tub maybe once a week and just use the same water.

We just had the same problem, I would recommend getting some Drano, pour it down the drain and let it sit for at least a couple hours. Then run hot water down the drain. That should clear up the clog that's causing it to drain slowly. Hope this helps.
Sound's like you have a vent problem. The problem is caused because air cannot move freely when water is being drained. Contact the Home Depot or the like to help solve issue. or go on line at home depot.com for some how to answers
A plunger could be the first step. A tougher clog requires a 'snake' (a device that sneaks around in the bend of the pipe to clear hair clogs) or similar product that is wiry and flexible to stick down in the drain and twirl around to clear the clog. The last resort is a lye-based chemical product that may 'eat away' at the clog such as Dran-o or Liquid Plumber available just about anywhere.
There is a small utensil you can buy at Lowes or Home Depot that does not cost but about $3 or so---it is a must to have for this kind of thing--it is slow because probably there is a lot of hair buildup in the drain--this utensil allows you to go down in the drain and loosen all that crap--I have also heard that pouring straight bleach down a drain helps with the hair build-up problem. When you buy this utensil just ask the store manager what it is called--I cannot remember but they would know--or a store clerk would know. It works grea.
I have the same problem on occasion . I pour one half of jug of bleach down the drain, and let sit a few hours or over night then I run hot water for a minute or two, and that fixes it very time!
Hardware stores have a long thin plastic rod with reverse "prongs" on it. You jam it in then pull it out and it will grab all the hair. Prepare to be disgusted at how much comes out and what it looks like.
My GF has long curly hair and I have to do this every 6 months. I never had any luck with drain chemicals.
