What kind of wood sealer wolud I use To make wooden coffee cups useable?

Question:I am wanting to make coffee cups out of oak wood. What kind of sealer would I use?

Answers:
Hi- I just have some possibilities. You could try Spar Varnish. This is the varnish used on wood boats. They are in water for a long time so this might work. You could try Resin. This is a craft product that is mixed and usually poured on a surface. It is a thick, hard and shinny finish. I have seen it on slabs of wood that were made into a wall clock.Try these on a scrap of wood first. Good Luck

Chefs use cooking oil to treat cutting boards, but, if you are going to put boiling hot liquids in the cups I do not know. You might search: sealer for wood coffee cups and see what it comes up with. My search has led to nothing. And I have seen wooden table servings. ? And was once in the wood refinishing business. I wonder if they are supposed to be used or just a novelty item.
