What is the purpose of floor plans and roof plans for structural drafing.?

Question:

Answers:
Mainly this is what the people who are going to build it need (contractors, builders, whatever) in order to make the building. Without these essential things (like roof plan, floor plan, elevations, sections, etc) they wouldn't know where to start. Engineers need the roof and floor plans to determine what structural members are needed in order to support the building, i.e. for example beams, roof joists, etc are needed in certain locations and they need the floor plans and roof plans in order to determine this.

ummmm...to build the structure correctly?
Charlie G has a good answer, but these plans are also crucial in determining whether you can afford the new home or not. The builder uses these plans to help the homeowner price up the home.
