How easy is it to install a kitchen sink?

Question:I am moving into a house that has an older kitchen sink and I am thinking about replacing it at some point. What is involved?

Answers:
Measure the size of the current sink and buy one the same size. Turn off the water supply valves under the sink and disconnect the supply tubes. Remove the trap from the drain piping. The old sink may have silicone or caulking holding it down. You may have to cut the seal or try "gently" prying it up. It may also have clips under the edge of the sink below inside the cabinet that need to be removed. Install the faucet on the new sink with the supply tubes connected and the new strainer installed. Apply a bead of silicone around the edge of the hole and drop the sink in. Connect any clips that are included with the new sink. Hook the plumbing back up. I would suggest buying new supply tubes and strainer. You will also need some plumbers putty to seal the strainer into the sink. Screwdriver, channel-locks, and a cresent wrench should be all the tools you need.

We just replaced a white porceline sink with a stainless one in Our kitchen.
Not much to it but you`ll work yourself to tears without someone on top. You`ll be up and down, up and down, and THEN some. But then, I`m 60+ years old and Very out of shape (:>
If the sink is Heavy it is Also nice to have someone above to lift while you push up. Speaking of heavy, if it has a disposal on it it about doubles the weight. So, you might consider taking it off first.
About the most Important part of the installation (other than making sure there are no leaks) is insuring the existing drains line up with the strainers in your new sink. All This entails `tho is maybe some shortening and/or lengthening of the existing pipe.
If it has PVC pipe it is Really very easy.

We installed new faucets at the same time as the sink. Saves having to get back Under there later and your drains and Other obstacles will already be out of the way.

Need any help, just ask.
