Spring action gate for chain link fence?
Question:I am wondering where to find this or how to make one. We searched our local hardware stores with no luck. Our thought was to take a spring action hinge and latch for a wooden fence and use JB Weld to attach it to a chain link fence fitting. Any suggestions?

I would advise you NOT to use JB weld to attach the spring/latch. I've been installing gates for a few years, and I've seen Metal brackets and parts fail from the constant open/close cycle of a gate. JB Weld would probably fail even faster.
Without seeing your gate, or your latch, or your spring, I'm guessing here. I take it that your fence, and your gate, are made from chain link?
My first tip would be to go visit a fencing dealer who actually sells chain link items. You might find just what you're looking for.
If not, see if you can't improvise a bracket to hold your spring and/or your latch. Perhaps the fencing dealer will have something that can easily bolt around your fence's tubes, and provide a solid anchor for your latch that you bought. If not...and if you're a handy person who has an idea of what you want...you could probably draw up a quick sketch with some measurement of your tubing, and have a local welding shop put together something for you.
You can also drill the tubing yourself, and perhaps bolt something even simpler to your gate/fence.
All of this is impossible to pin down without seeing it. But I would not rely on JB weld to hold up outdoors, with all of that stress.
