Weird toilet question?
Question:I have a weird one - When I flush my toilet (one push on the handle), my toilet actually flushes three times! Any ideas why?
Answers:
Open the top. Flush it and tell us what you see happen.
Hahah.. cool.
I have certain (male) family members who could probably make good use of that.
But, uh, no.
I have no idea.
xD
Maybe the float needs replacing, never heard of that one!
it sounds like the flapper valve is sticking take the tank lid off and flush the toilet you should see a red or black rubber thing connected to the flush handle lift up and then fall back down sealing the tank to be filled again if not replace the valve it takes 5 min. and can be found in any hardware store for under $10
Probably, the flapper is bouncing and the water is set too high. does it run a little bit all the time, or exhibit any other wierd behavior?
Well, the actual flush is initiated when the handle pulls the flapper up. So it sounds like there is something wrong there with the flapper. Or the chain may be kinked connecting the handle to the flapper.
You can replace it super easy and buy the parts at wal-mart or a hardware store.
And it's a cheap thing to start with...
Your float is probably brushing against the handle mechanism.
The way your toilet works is pretty easy, There is a "floating flapper valve". Pushing down the handle lifts the flapper up and it tries to "float" until the water empties out. Once the water falls out the flapper falls into place, keeping water in the tank.
As the water fills the tank a float moves up with the water. As the float nears the top the valve letting the water in shuts off.
If the float sometimes pushes up on the handle when it gets near the top it will cause the toliet to flush.
had one flush twice.. it was water level to high. someone must have put another flush valve in it cuz the water was at the line.. i lowered the water level and now only flushes once.. guess sometimes i could use a dbl flusher.. gots to hold the lever on these dam 1.5
