How do you replace a control board on a window unit air conditioner?

Question:Took my window unit air conditioner, Kenmore model # 580.76129300, to sears repair shop. They said it was a bad control board. What is the control board and where can I buy one, so I can try to fix it myself? They told me it would cost $280.00 to fix it for me. Could buy a new one for that!

Yes, buy a new one. The chances of getting a good control board that fits are very small. If it isn't under warrantee, then after you repair it, you have an old unit with an expensive new board in it.
