Can a conventional hard-wired chandelier be converted into a swag chandelier?
Question:I have a beautiful chandelier I need to hang in my new dining room, but the dining room has no light fixtures, only a wall switch for a lamp. Can a hardwire chandelier be converted into a swag lamp?
Answers:
If there is attic space above the dining room then adding an approved box and running a wire from your existing switch would be a quick and not too expensive job for an electrician. I would call one and ask them to come give you an estimate. If you want to convert your light to a swag, I would bring it to a fixture repair shop and explain what you want done. They will be able to wire the fixture with a cord and plug so it will still meet electrical codes. An electrical contractor could also do this if they do fixture repair. If you must do this yourself, please be safe and do a little research and learning first.
Yes you can. The chandelier must be supported by a chain not the wiring. And the splice for the electrical connections of the fixture and the cord must be in an approved enclosure
real easy one. just add a plug at the end of the wire.
Yes. You should be able to find all the necessary material at Lowes, Home Depot, or just about any hardware store that sells light fixtures.
