How do I light a tiki torch?
Question:I have 5 cheap wooden tiki torches. These are the wooden stakes you dig in the ground that are only one dollar but I have no idea how to use it!! It has a wick on the end and looks like it has a screw cap were the wick is. I do not know what fuel to put it in, if i unscrew the cap, when i should light the tiki torch, can I please get all the info because we are doing a loau party and I dont want an accident or dont want to end up burning out the torch and ruining the theme on the day of. Please provide me with every step to step in DETAILS, i would appreciate it soooo much! Thank you
P.S. can you also tip me on, what to watch out for. for example: "make sure when you light it your other hand is on the stake so that etc. etc. won't happen"... "if it's too dim, then this is wrong, etc. etc".

Well what you want to do is....
1 Get some scented lamp oil or citronella oil-citronella controls mosquitoes somewhat but scented smells better, don't use kerosene as it stinks
2 The screw tops where the wick sticks out?-UN screw that and you have a can left-fill that with your oil-about 2/3 way up
3 before you screw the top back on make sure the wick is sticking out of the top-3/4 of an inch should do-screw top back on.
4 put can in wooden holder which is in the ground or secured so it cant be tipped over by children or drunk guests.
5 Light wick as you would a candle-it just lights,no drama
6 To put it out you use those caps tied to the top-just put it on the wick and it smothers it
Now if it burns real low you need to pull more of the wick out threw the hole in the top---If it smokes to much the wick is to long but will burn down---They are pretty idiot proof right out of the box,so to say-just make sure they don't tip over
you use citronella oil, if i spelled it right. the same thing as the candles that keep mosquitoes away.fill them up, screw on the cap, and light it. dont worry they are pretty safe, but make sure they are secure in the ground to avoid tipping over, that would not be very good, lol. good luck on your party
