Vinyl floor question...?
Question:My floor in the bathroom by the shower has a corner that has developed a pink stain over time. In our other house we had the same problem by a french door leading out to the deck. For a while the door leaked on the bottom so the floor got wet at times. And obviously the floor by the shower gets wet from time to time. Both stains I can not remove. I've tried lots of things. I'm wondering if it has something to do with water getting underneath the floor. But why the pink coloring? Anyone else ever have this? Any idea what I could do to get rid of the stain.
Answers:
Yes, the pink is the water from under the floor coming up through it. There is no cleaning to remove the pink discolored floor. To remove the pink spot you will need to remove the vinyl floor. I don't know what type of flooring you got, if it's one full piece or multiple. However, that isn't half your problem.
You have water unseen getting onto your sub-floor as well that will cause you bigger and more costly repairs later. ASAP for a quick fix, you need to seal up your floor where the water is getting under the floor and if at all possible replace the discolored portion of the floor for moister is trapped in it.
You can buy silicone at your local hardware or building supplier. You can use a chalking gun to apply it or if a small job it also comes in small sqeeze tubes.
