Needing help installing a faucet?

Question:I need some help installing a faucet. Problem is that the pipe is not the same diameter as the faucet. I'm looking for a coupling but I'm having trouble with the size. The faucet is size 1/2", which is the size I need to fit to the tube of the washing machine. The opening on the pipe measures up to an inner diameter of +/-125 mm or 0.49 inch. the opening of the tube is just to small for the faucet and it's way too big to fit a 3/8". Does any one know which size coupling I need?

your help would be greatly appreciated with 10 points

Any plumbing job like this is worth three trips to the store. Watch for differences in the threads.

My best advice would be to take what you can, to Lowe's, Home Depot, your local hardware store, etc..and tell them what you have going on. They will be able to hook you up with the proper sizes. I how they make a flexible reducers/enlargers for your type of problem. Since you can't take the pipe that is at home, buy several~of different sizes that look/measure the closest~ then return the ones that don't fit. That will save you from having to run back and forth and delay getting your job finished:)
Best of Luck!!
Faucets that are 1/2 " are meant to fit over 1/2" copper pipe. The pipe is measured by it`s inside dia not outside. This is an industry standard. You may not have the right faucet or your pipe is oblong. Go to home depot or hardware store and they can show you easier than it can be described. I assume you are soldering the 2 together.
