Need some help in making an addition room in the back?
Question:Me and my dad are planning to start making an additional room in the backyard..this will be 28*14 ft. my back wall is concreate. and ground is sloppy. I am taking advice from homedepot and they been very helpful. first I am going to make a wooden deck and i hope this will be cheaper than concreate work. on top of deck I will make the patio. I will have 5 pillars on interval of 7 ft accross my back wall to hold the weigh of wood roofing and 5 pillars on the other side. I need to know whats the best way of attaching those pillars to my concreate wall and I dont want any gaps between the concreate wall and the pillars...once I will start this project I am sure I will have lot more question..Thanks for now
Answers:
well tapcons will work. i would, if your wall are solid concrete. take a treated 2x8 and attach it to concrete with bolts. drill out lots of holes about 2.5 inches or more into wall . your local concrete or home depot will have some anchoring cement or epoxy that will hold the bolts in place. make sure the bolts are galvinized, the cement will harden and hold your bolts in place. make sure your deck pilliars are below the frost line.
feel free to ask the world and good luck!
You need to use concrete anchors also known as "tap-cons"
Ask at Home Depot
Wood flooring is never cheaper than a concrete slab..find out concrete cost in your area and compare.
