What is the best type of window fan to use for warm whether? ( not a air conditioner.)?

Question:Can you reccommend a brand name of a window fan that you've used in the past?

Answers:
I just purchased a twin window fan from Target yesterday for $39.99 It is a Holmes Twin Window fan with Digital Control. Model HAWF3095. It was 90 degrees yesterday in Seattle and I got one to try in the baby's room. His room is the smallest and hottest (facing the late day sun).

It was so awesome, I went in to check on him before I went to bed and it felt like his room had air conditioning. My other 2 kids rooms were still sweltering at that time. They were just using the typical oscillating fans, etc.

I just went back to Target today and bought 2 more so all the kids rooms have them.

Today is really hot too and I set them up in all the rooms. This afternoon I turned on both fans to exhaust so it sucks the hot air out of the room. After about 30 minutes, I noticed the rooms were quite comfortable.

I think this fan has just enough features. 3 fan settings, you can reverse the air flow to intake , exhaust, or exchange air flow. You can also set the temperature and when the room has cooled to the correct temperature, the fans will shut off.

The fans fit perfectly inside my windows, which are the standard vinyl, milgard type window. I don't need to pull the extensions out or anything.

I also looked at a model at Bed Bath and Beyond, very similar but it had a remote control, and was much more expensive around $60.

My daughter has no a/c and uses Honeywell.. here is a site that has one. http://www.deskfans.com/windowfans.htm...
Studious, Most fans are comparable to each other.Brand name,no no name. There isn't much difference in how there made or how they work. Its more the type of fan you use. If you use a box fan,you should actually have to.Fix one to bring air in the room on one side of the room and one pushing hot air out on the other side of the room.I prefer the oscillating fans on the tall pole stand myself. They spread out the air coming in.The little window fans that have 2 fans on them though are not worth the money. They are not large enough to do anything.
I really hope it doesn't get too hot where you live though because window fans really don't do a good job in extreme heat at all.
Use a whole house fan, it's mounted in the celing between two rafters and exhausts into the attic.
I have a 3 speed Lakewood fan I'm partial to because its quiet. The box fans are subject to annoying little vibrations so get a good one. See if you can find one at a store that has samples out you can listen to. Nothing worse than having a noisey fan keeping you awake on a hot night.
