I want to paint a counter top in the bathroom. Anyone done this? Tips?

Question:I have heard that Marine Paint is best and easy to use.. It is a small area.

Answers:
First you must use a primer this will help your paint adhere better to your counter top. I would use KILZ premium it will stick to anything you can put it on plus it has a smoother undercoat that will give your paint a better look once you apply it. Then I would go with a semi-gloss or a satin finish also I would use KILZ casual colors at Wal-Mart only $20 per gallon and $6 per quart. Usually one coat paint if you use a color card that says KILZ on it. If you are going to use a dark color you will also want your primer to be tinted a just ask your paint store to do this.

you don't mention what material your top is but, the most important step is the primer. A great primer makes ALL the difference. Glidden makes a product called Gripper that I love, sticks to anything. The paint is not really that important, any good quality, gloss paint will do. Lightly scuffing the surface with sandpaper before priming will also help.
Melamine paint is what I used. Could clean surface and follow instructions on can.
