Question for a friend regarding PG&E usage ...?
Question:My friend's boyfriend turned on the PG&E in a house they are selling - it's vacant. The PG&E was turned off due to non-payment. She wants to know the penalty if PG&E comes to read the meter which is supposed to be off and is on. She is working on getting him to turn it back off since she obviously can't do that herself but that hasn't happened yet. She is just wondering what PG&E will do ? A fine ? Is it a felony ?
Answers:
You can be arrested, it is stealing. Chances are they won't arrest you, but you may not be able to get it in your name for a while and you will have to pay back what you used.
It is called stealing, PG&E can do it to you but you can't do it to them.
You can be fined and prosecuted. It is theft of services.
Stealing. Depending on how long you have been stealing the services it could be a felony. They will know when they finally do read the meters. You will be fine, have to pay restituion and probably put on probation.
