How long does it take for a painted room to dry?

Question:just an average sized room, like a living room.

Answers:
Depends on the type of paint you use.
Latex paint dries quickly, you can usually recoat if need be in a couple hours.
oil based paints take a lot longer.Usually 24 hours till it's totally dry.
Read the paint tin directions and it'll tell you what to do.

good question because I'm painting a hall way tonight.
For all the painting i have done i.e interior rooms it took about 1-2 hours with goodl ventilation and leaving the windows open for a good flow of air. Yours should take about the same time too.
define average. it depends on several factors- true size of the room, type and quality of the paint, thickness of the coat of paint, air flow in the room, temperture, amount of light and humidity. i'm a licensed builder in the state of michigan. though i don't do a lot of painting, i do know a little about it. careful with the other reviews you get- any ignorant fool can say ''about two hours''.
All depends on the Humidity outside.
Usually 2-4 hours.
Try touching the wet paint, if it is sticky (tacky) then you would still have to wait.
Latex paint usually takes 4 hours to dry to touch 1 hour dry to recoat then usually 14-30 days for dry to cure.
