Attic fans?

Question:where is the best location for the attic fan

Answers:
switzerland...love the attics

To the back of the house is best . This way when guest show up they see the perfect front and not a cage with a fan .
The best place would be in a corridor to your bedrooms. ie. in a ranch style home, you should put the fan about 6 ft into the corridor to the bedrooms.

In a colonial style home, the best place is the center hall above the stairs.

In a contemporary, you may decide to mount the fan vertically next the the crawl space entrance if one exists.
I'd say in the ceiling , in the center of the home. Here is some additional info: http://www.wholehousefan.com/

The best place would be in a hallway near your bedrooms.
Heat rises, so you want to mount the fan at the highest point in your attic. At the same time it needs to be installed towards the back of your home so it is not seen from the front. Also make sure your attic has venting for make up air. You should have screened openings in the overhangs of your house if not you should install some. The reason for this is you do not want to draw are from inside your house to your attic space this will drive your heating & cooling bill up. Also be careful when cutting into your roof leaks are hard to fix and can cause real bad damage to your house.
If possible mount it in a gable wall near the peak, but away from your driveway for appearance sake.
Put it high up where you don't care about the noise they make.
About a foot down from the peak of the roof.
