The water pump for my shower keeps stopping or makes a loud noise is there any way of fixing the pump.?

If you would mention the type of pump you have it would be helpful.
If you are using a submercible pump it is in need of removal maintainance.
As you can hear it cycling, I assume it to be a tank pump or a water on demand pump.
If it is a water on demand type pump it is sucking air and needs the seal replaced.
If it is a tank type pump, there are two types and both develope the same problem at times. They become waterlogged. The "tee-tanks" have a baffle inside to reduce waterlog and often lose their seal as result of algae in the water. The tanks without the baffle are more prone to get waterlog. The only way to remove algae is to flush the tank with an algae cleaner.
In either situation the tank must be purged. If there is no purge valve then drain the the tank with the electric turned off. Then open the nearest water faucet and turn the pump on and let it run until a steady flow of water comes thru the faucet with no air.
When doing so, check the pump shaft seal for leakage as it may be sucking air. Water has oxygen in it and when under pressure actually squeezes air into the tank causing waterlog .When pressure is released by turning on a faucet as well, can be causing the tank to become air-bound. Either situation will cause rapid cycling when faucets are in use after a period of time in use.
As for that loud noise you hear, a better description would also help. It could be just "water-hammer" , a banging noise, because of excessive air in the water line. If you have always had a banging noise then just put a "tee" in the waterline close to the shower and extend about six inches of pipe from the tee with a cap on the end. This will reduce water hammer greatly.
If your shower or pump is too close to a hot water heater you may need to install a small expansion tank on the ceiling and connected to the hot water heater as the excessive water pressure of a water heater could be the cause of all your problem.
Good luck...
sounds like it just needs lubrication I would give it a squirt of WD40
You could have air in your pipes let them run for a while and see what happens.
Check the back of instuction booklet for pump, Faults & remedies, No booklet, Try the web type in makers name you maybe able to download the infomation, Also check supplies to pump.
This sounds like corrosion from hard water. If you are able to put inhibitor in the pump without it getting into your water supply that would cure it. Do not under any circumstances use WD 40.
You could replace it yourself before it starts your home on fire, and have it rebuilt. Just remove it, as you disconnect wires put a piece of different colored tape on each connecting wires that correspond or tag it with #'s so you will know where the wires go when you replace it. Like 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3. I did this with my furnace several years ago.
it could be air or it could be furring up. i would simply buy a replacement as it would be quicker and could be cheaper. bear in mind that many such things are made to be disposable. i would then set a day to do the replacement. if it meant draining down i would buy service valves to fit to the pipes that supply the pump, so i would not have to drain down in future. (i've done this for taps etc) once job done i would strip the pump to see if i could repair it (spares may not be available ) if i could i would. then i would have a spare. if "i" could not. bin it! labour costs would probably be more than a replacement. it sounds like the bearings by the way
could be air in the pipe, check to see if there any automatic air vents on pipe work that have been left shut, or any manual vents that need venting.
maybe your shower head is scaled up and you havent enough flow rate coming out of the shower to activate the flow switch.
if you discover your pumps worn out, depending on the make of pump, sometimes its cheaper and less hassle to install a new pump.
if you have a expansion vessel on your pump, then you have a negative head pump, the expansion vessel is cylindral in shape, or shaped lik a ball, that may just need recharging.
good luck.
