Does Soap Bubbles/Foam/Dishwashing Liquid stop a Pool Pump?
Question:My friends and I want to throw a foam party in our pool. Basically fill the top of the pool with lots of soap and foam it up. The thing is first we want to know if it will kill the pool pump, and secondly how much soap would we need? Come on, Im sure my friends and I arent the only pplz who have ever thought of this idea. Help is needed. Thanks!
Answers:
NO, NO. NO, NO, Pour in the soap, have a party, drain the pool, acid wash the pool, replace the filter media, refill the pool, flush out the pump. Only $800 for cleanup. I would put $100 of silk flowers stuck in green styro-foam blocks floating on the water and pick them out after the party and save to use again...
won't hurt the pool pump but you will have a you know what of a time cleaning it after wards and remember any one falls in or needs help if it is real thick you may not see them. Personally I like what I did to my old friends used food coloring no not red #5 green with children's MR Bubble it was great and a good shower washed off the tint just tell them what you put in so if they swim they know. PS have lots of dawn dish soap for those who stay in too long if you use the coloring. but MR bubble is great 5 boxes use 3 first then add if needed. Have fun
no
yes it clogs it up , use food color much better
this all depends on what kind of filter your pool has. if a cartridge filter (paper filter) is what you have then No, wont hurt it. If D.E. filter or Sand filter is what you have then it is possible to mess it up... to be on the safe side just back wash to waste and flush out system... Just don't go crazy on to much soap!
If the pump draws in bubbles it will cavitate some and lose efficiency temporarily but once it has solid water it will run correctly.
Use bubble bath, available here in the UK, and when finished change the filter and hose out the pool and it should alright, don't use dishwasher, or washing up liquid etc.
