How do i get rid of carpenter bees w/o my wife knowing it?

Question:they have taken over my back porch

Answers:
Go to home depot or lowe's or whatever you've got nearby. Purchase some wood putty that matches color of the porch some dowell rods and some insecticide DUST. Use extreme Caution while doing this Carpenter Bees/Bumble Bees are as I'm sure you know, VERY aggressive. Use the dust put the dust in the holes. Wait a couple days so it can spread through the colony, cut the dowell rods in pieces about 4 inches long and stick them in the hole, then put putty on the outside to seal it up.

Spray when she is at the store?
as in without her knowing that they are there already? or knowing that you got rid of them..

if you don't want to call an exterminator, you could probably use a spray such as Raid. They make some specifically for bees and wasps.
